ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Cornell men's tennis team will have three entries competing for NCAA Championship berths this weekend as ITA postseason play continues at two national qualifying events.
Sophomore
Rodrigo Fernandes and junior
Felipe Pinzon will represent the Big Red in singles at the 2025 ITA Division I Men's East Sectional Championships, which begin Thursday, Nov. 6 at North Carolina's Chewning Tennis Center. The doubles pairing of
Rushil Khosla and
Rethin Pranav Senthil Kumar will compete at the ITA Conference Masters in San Diego, Calif., at the Barnes Tennis Center.
Fernandes and Pinzon advanced to the 32-player East Sectional field after reaching the quarterfinals or better at the ITA Northeast Regionals earlier this fall, with Pinzon advancing to the semis. Six singles players from each of four sectionals will qualify for the NCAA Singles Championship.
Khosla and Kumar earned their place in San Diego by capturing the Ivy Tournament doubles crown, highlighted by a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Harvard's Masato Perera and Rohan Murali in the final. The top three doubles teams from the Conference Masters will move on to the NCAA Doubles Championship.
Cornell has already secured one NCAA berth, as Pinzon and senior
Petar Teodorovic qualified by winning the ITA Northeast Regional title. The duo will compete for a national championship beginning Nov. 18 at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla.
