ITHACA, N.Y. -- Cornell senior
Cooper Noard has been named the Ivy League Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the second time after helping the Big Red to a road win at UAlbany on Sunday. Noard and the Big Red snapped a three-game skid with an 83-75 victory over the Great Danes.
Noard scored a game-high 25 points and added two rebounds while helping rally Cornell from a double-digit second half deficit. The senior guard connected on 8-of-10 field goals, including 5-of-6 from 3-point range, and drained all four free throws in the game's final 20 seconds to give Cornell the victory following a two week break for final exams. He scored 14 of his points in the decisive second half, including a key floater in the lane with just over four minutes to play that gave the Big Red some breathing room - ending a 7-0 Great Danes' run that cut Cornell's lead to one point. Noard, who has scored at least 13 points in each game this year, now has five 20-point contests this season and four with five or more 3-pointers.
For the season, Noard is averaging 20.6 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.5 assists while shooting 53 percent from the floor, 41 percent from beyond the 3-point arc and 87 percent from the free-throw line. He's making 3.1 3-pointers per night.
Noard and the Big Red will take a week off for the holidays before returning to action against a top 10 Michigan State team on Monday, Dec. 29 at 7 p.m. at the Breslin Center in East Lansing, Mich.
