ITHACA, N.Y. — The Cornell women's track & field team opens its 2025-26 indoor season this weekend at the Greg Page Relays, hosted in Barton Hall on Friday, Dec. 5, and Saturday, Dec. 6. The meet will mark the first competition for a squad looking to build on a record-setting 2024-25 campaign.
"The Greg Page Relays are always a special meet to start the season," said Mike Henderson, the Alan B. '53 and Elizabeth Heekin Harris Head Coach of Women's Track & Field/Men's and Women's Cross Country. "It's a great opportunity for our athletes to get their first indoor performances in and start setting the tone for the rest of the season."
Roster and Leadership
The Big Red welcomes a freshman class of 17 to complement its returning squad, following the graduation of 15 seniors last season. Among those departures were standout athletes Augustine Haquet and Noelle Elkinton, whose performances helped set multiple school records.
"Replacing 15 seniors is never easy, but this incoming class brings depth, talent, and energy," Henderson said. "We're excited to see how these young women integrate into our team culture and contribute across multiple events."
Looking Back
Last year, the Cornell women placed fourth out of eight at the Ivy League Heptagonal Championships, continuing a trend of strong indoor performances. Several school records were broken, reflecting a squad capable of pushing the program to new heights.
On the national stage, the 6 team members traveled to the NCAA East Preliminary Championships, where Haquet concluded her Cornell career with a 16th-place finish in the 1500 meters, running a career-best 4:12.68—second all-time in program history.
"Last season's accomplishments set a high bar for us, both in terms of team results and individual performances," Henderson said. "Our goal this year is to continue building on that momentum while helping our athletes reach their personal bests."
Season Outlook
With a blend of experienced returners and a talented freshman class, the 2025-26 squad aims to compete for Ivy League titles while challenging school records in multiple events. Early-season meets like the Greg Page Relays will provide valuable benchmarks as the team sets sights on the Heptagonals and NCAA postseason.
"We have a really balanced team this year," Henderson said. "We're looking for consistency across the board—sprints, distance, jumps, and throws. Our leadership group, combined with the newcomers, gives us a lot of potential to accomplish great things this season."
