Women's Swim and Dive Wraps Up Day Three at Zippy Invite

AKRON, Ohio - The Cornell women's swimming and diving team finished day three of the Zippy Invitational in second place with 1250 points. Day two was highlighted by three top-four finishes in the 200-yard freestyle and a sweep of the top three spots in the 400-yard individual medley.

Cornell opened the finals session with two A-final scorers in the 100-yard butterfly. Junior Katie Yee placed fourth in 54.46, while junior Mingna Xu added an eighth-place finish in 55.84. The Big Red added three more scoring swims in consolation and C finals, led by freshman Isabel Peng, who won the B final in 56.27.

The session's strongest event came in the 400-yard individual medley, where Cornell swept the top three positions. Senior Katherine Ferreira won the event in 4:18.38, followed closely by junior Hojung Yoon in second (4:19.04) and freshman Oceane Vanlinthout in third (4:20.33). Freshman Sadye Derstadt also placed sixth in the A final, giving Cornell four of the top six finishers.

Cornell carried that momentum into the 200-yard freestyle, where the Big Red placed three swimmers inside the top six of the A final. Senior Jungmin Yoon touched third in 1:49.20, junior Erin Dehollander finished fourth in 1:49.60, and freshman Arina Vorobyeva placed sixth in 1:50.69. Sophomore Kate Li added a ninth-place overall finish by winning the B final in 1:50.71.
