AKRON, OHIO - The Cornell women's swimming and diving team closed out the 2025 Zippy Invitational with a strong final day of racing, highlighted by an event victory in the 1650-yard freestyle and multiple A-final points in the 200-yard backstroke. The Big Red secured an all-time best second-place team finish with 1702 points, trailing only Akron and finishing ahead of Buffalo, Bowling Green, Keiser, Youngstown State, and Clarion.
Cornell wrapped up the Zippy Invite with consistency across the closing events, earning key A-final points in backstroke and delivering a distance-event victory to secure the runner-up team finish. The Big Red opened the finals session with a decisive win in the 1650-yard freestyle, where junior Erin Dehollander won the event in 16:40.40. Freshman
Natalia Strezenicky also scored in the championship heat, placing seventh in 17:30.27.
Cornell continued their strong closing performance in the 200-yard backstroke, placing three swimmers in the A final. Freshman
Rosalee Springer finished second in 1:57.97, followed by classmates
Aly Yokoyama in sixth (2:01.55) and Sadye Derstadt in seventh (2:02.18). Strezenicky added a second scoring swim later in the session, finishing 28th overall in 2:12.74.
