Women's Swim and Dive Wraps Up Day One At Zippy Invite

ITHACA, N.Y. - The Cornell women's swimming and diving team opened the 2025 Zippy Invitational  on Thursday at Ocasek Natatorium, finishing the first day in second place with 206 points. The Big Red trails only Akron (218) while holding a narrow edge over Buffalo (204) after two relay events. Cornell placed all four of its relays inside the top nine.

Cornell opened the meet with a third-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay, as the team of Mingna Xu, Audrey Holden, Sadye Derstadt, and Kate Li clocked a 1:41.07, just behind Akron and Keiser. The Big Red also earned significant points from its B relay, which placed seventh in 1:42.62, with strong performances from Aly Yokoyama, Nicole Byrnes Cortinas, and Isabela Teixeira alongside Katie Yee. Cornell's C and D relays also scored within the top 20, giving the program a boost in early team standings.

Cornell closed the opening night with another podium finish, placing third in the 800-yard freestyle relay. The quartet of Jungmin Yoon, Erin Dehollander, Arina Vorobyeva, and Rosalee Springer touched in 7:19.68, securing 54 points and keeping Cornell near the top of the meet leaderboard. The Big Red's B relay also delivered a standout effort, taking fourth in 7:26.29 behind strong splits from Teixeira, Yee, Hojung Yoon, and Li.

Through one day of competition, Cornell sits second overall with multiple scoring relays and strong swims from both veterans and an impactful freshman class. The Big Red will continue competition Friday as individual events get underway.
