Women's Track and Field Earn Double Digit Event Wins

ITHACA, N.Y. – Cornell women's track and field won 11 events with four podium sweeps at the Kane Invitational in Barton Hall on Saturday.

Jada Smith broke the school record in the 60m with her time of 7.44. The previous record of 7.45 was held by Jeomi Maduka and set in 2009.

Reyne Rodrigues, Elise Sawyer, Francine Stevens and Riley Ebersole had the top four finishes in the 400m. Rodrigues won the event in a time of 56.16.

In the 200m, Imani Reid won in a time of 24.91 with Nataha Redmond and Takiya Henson right behind her.

The final sweep came in the field events as Noelle Elkinton, Claire Springer and Nicle Loy earned the top three marks.

Maisie McManus won the mile in a time of 4:54.59 while Tenley Nelson ran the 800m in a time of 2:17.89 to take first place.

Maddie Pool won the 500m in a time of 1:16.93 with Kate Fenwick right behind her in a time of 1:19.28.

For the jumps squad, Avery Hilliard and Quincy Hansen were the top two pole vaults, Tia Taylor and Maddie Packer long jump took home first and second place in the long jump and Anika Sukumar and Sarah Caldwell triple jump were at the top of the triple jump.

The relay team consisting of Tenley Nelson, Bronwyn Parks, Henny Schminke and Brooke Hirsch won the 4x400 relay in the time of 4:06.97.

Other top three finishes include Lucia Werner placed third in the mile, Jodi Parrott was third in the 60m hurdles while Natasha Redmond was second in the 60m, Margaux Rawson and Syna Sony placed second and third in the high jump and Noelle Elkinton and Torie Jamieson were second and third in the shot put.
