Women's Track and Field Ready for 2025 Heps

ITHACA, N.Y. – The Cornell women's track and field will host all eight Ivy League schools at the 2025 Ivy League Indoor Heptagonal Championships for the last time in Barton Hall on Saturday and Sunday.

HEPS MEET INFO

The first day of the Indoor Heptagonal Championships will start at 11:15 a.m. with the women's pentathlon 60m hurdles and the pole vault at noon. Sunday's events will start at 11:30 a.m. with the high jump and mile final shortly after.

Cornell is joined in the field by Brown, Columbia, Dartmouth, Harvard, Penn, Princeton and Yale.

Medals will be presented on Saturday and Sunday to the first six-place finishers in individual and relay events. Each event placement will cumulate over the two days for an overall team score. Points will be awarded as follows: First place (10 points), Second place (8 points), Third place (6 points), Fourth place (4 points), Fifth place (2 points) and Sixth place (1 point).

The team champion and individual awards ceremony such as, Women's Most Outstanding Field Performer and Women's Most Outstanding Track Performer, will take place at the conclusion of competition Sunday.

Live results will be posted following each race and field event as fans can follow along on Leone Timing. ESPN+ will have live coverage for both days of the event.

LAST INDOOR HEPS

The team earned 43 points to earn a sixth-place finish at the 2024 Ivy League Heptagonal Championships. Noelle Elkinton collected the lone individual title among the Big Red athletes, to pair with numerous podium finishes on the weekend.

Elkinton captured 10 points for the Big Red and the shot put crown, throwing a career-best 15.29 meters to put her in the top spot. Elkinton's incredible shot put jolted her up to the second spot in the Cornell record book.

LAST TIME OUT

Cornell women's track and field set a school record at the Alex Wilson Invitational in Indianna while eight individuals took home the gold at the Marc Deneault Invitational in Barton Hall.

Noelle Elkinton (13.87m), Claire Springer (13.77m) and Charli Stewart (12.97m) took the top three spots in the shot put. Avery Hastings took first in the weight throw with a mark of 17.09m.

Avery Hilliard finished first in the pole vault with a mark of 4.10m while Lauren Cashman placed fourth with a mark of 3.80 to land in tenth in Cornell record books.

Anika Sukumar won the triple jump with a mark of 12.21m and moved herself into ninth in Cornell record books.

Belle Bennett ran the 60m hurdles in a time of 8.93 to take first in the event.

Jordanne Nichols was first in the 400m with a time of 1:01.18, Riley Ebersole placed first in the 600m with a time of 1:39.56 and Takiya Henson took first in the 200m in a time of 25.08.

UP NEXT

The NCAA Indoor Championships are scheduled for March 14-15 in Virginia Beach. Vir. Then the outdoor season starts for Cornell at the USF Alumni Invitational on March 21-22.
