ITHACA, N.Y. --- Nine was the magic number as the Cornell women's equestrian team claimed the 2025 IHSA Region I Championship on Sunday afternoon at Oxley Equestrian Center. The Big Red won its ninth consecutive Regional title and qualified nine individual riders for the upcoming Zone championships at JW Ruby Research Farm in Reedsville, W.Va.
Cornell was the high point team and junior
Riley Gerardo was the high point rider, putting her in position to compete for the Cacchione Cup if she qualifies for nationals from the Zone championships. In all, five Big Red riders earned event wins and four others were reserve champions. The top two in each category qualified for zones.
