ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Cornell equestrian's Alexa Carey finished as reserve champion in introductory to advance to the National Finals following the Zone II Championships on Saturday in Rochester, N.Y.
The sophomore captured reserve champion honors in introductory after earning the regional championship in the division at the Regional Championships on March 8. Carey recorded six first place finishes during the regular season.
Riley Gerardo placed fourth in open fences and 10th in open flat at the Zone II Championships. The senior had captured regional championships in both divisions at regionals and finished second in the Cacciatore Cup.
Jianna Simcik finished fifth in intermediate fences and sixth in intermediate flat. The senior was the regional champion in intermediate fences and reserve champion in intermediate flat.
Clara Beck placed eighth in limit fences after winning the regional championship in the division. Evelyn Gurvich finished seventh in novice flat after earning the regional championship at regionals.
Janice Shen, who finished as regional reserve champion in introductory, placed fourth in the division at Zone II Championships.
Cornell will compete in the Ivy Show on April 19. Carey will compete at IHSA Nationals on May 1-3.
