ITHACA, N.Y. — Behind his career day against Towson this past Saturday, Cornell baseball senior two-way player Ryan Porter has been named the Ivy League's Player of the Week, it was announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.

Porter batted a team-leading .636 across his pair of appearances last weekend in the Big Red's three-game series, going 7-for-11 at the plate with three home runs and nine RBI, leading to a 1.545 slugging percentage and 2.182 OPS.

After appearing as a relief pitcher in the opening game of last Saturday's doubleheader against Towson, Porter assumed designated hitter duties and registered his first career game with multiple home runs and having eight RBI, tying Cornell's single-game record that was established by junior outfielder Caden Wildman last year against Penn. Porter then followed up his career day by going 3-for-5 with a home run on Sunday, solidifying the Big Red's series victory over the Tigers.

Appearing in 10 games for the Big Red this season, Porter owns the team lead in batting average (.476), slugging percentage (1.000), and OPS (1.522), while tying for the most home runs (3) with senior infielder Max Jensen, and RBI (11) with senior outfielder John Quinlan and sophomore infielder Kevin Hager.

Cornell will begin Ivy League play this weekend, concluding its 14-game season-opening road trip with a three-game series against Yale (11-3), who holds the Ancient Eight's top overall record. The Bulldogs are on an eight-game winning streak heading into their midweek contest against Quinnipiac on Wednesday afternoon, having beaten Siena and Sacred Heart in midweek games and sweeping three-game series against Rice and VMI.

The series between the Big Red and Bulldogs will start on Saturday, March 22, with a doubleheader set for an 11:30 a.m. first pitch. All three games of the series will be aired on ESPN+.
