ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Cornell sailing team placed eighth in a 16-team field at Navy Graham Hall Team Race this past weekend, finishing 8-7 over two days of team racing. 

Cornell picked up race sweeps of Wisconsin, Fordham, Hobart & William Smith and the Merchant Marine Academy among its eight victories. The Big Red defeated all eight teams blow it in the standings and fell to all seven above it in windy conditions.

The Big Red was skippered by Sophia Devling, Winborne Majette and Bridget Green, while the crew was made up of Amelia Neumann, Sophia Fogarty, Sophia Pearce, Sophia Mulvania, Kate Moran and Hope Campbell throughout the weekend.

The team will be back in action when it heads to Georgetown for a women's team race in Washington, D.C. and splits to also visit Kings Point for a MAISA Team Racing League event.
