CHICAGO, Ill. -- The Cornell women's tennis team split its singles matches down the middle with DePaul, but the Blue Demons escaped with the dual meet win after capturing the doubles point on Sunday afternoon at XS Tennis Village. The Big Red slipped to 6-3, while DePaul improved to 7-5.
DePaul earned the doubles point with victories at spots one and three, then made it 3-0 after earning singles wins in the second and fourth slot. The Big Red staved off defeat with
Andrea Martinez De Los Rios winning at No. 6 by a 6-1, 6-2 margin, then climbed back within 3-2 moments later when
Michelle Ryndin closed out a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles over Hannah Smith. The Big Red tied it with a 6-2, 6-4 triumph by
Jenny Wong at No. 5, but the Blue Demons held on for the win when Eleanpor Nobbs rallied fro ma set down to claim victory at the third spot on the ladder.
Cornell will be back in action on Thursday, March 6 when it welcomes Buffalo to the Reis Tennis Center at 4:30 p.m.
