Second-Quarter Run Keeps Women's Lax Unbeaten In Ivy Play With Win At Columbia

NEW YORK, N.Y. -- The Cornell women's lacrosse broke open a tight game with an 8-1 run in the second quarter and improved to 2-0 in Ivy League play with a 19-13 victory over Columbia on Sunday afternoon at Rocco B. Commisso Soccer Stadium. The Big Red improved to 7-2 (2-0 Ivy), while the Lions fell to 3-6 (0-2 Ivy).

Senior Kylie Gelabert became the 29th player in program history to secure 100 career points as part of her team-best six-point day (two goals, four assists) to lead an offense that featured nine goal scorers. Caitlin Slaminko (four goals, one assist) and Ella Wilmot (four goals) also netted four goals, while Dillyn Patten had a hat trick along with two caused turnovers. Ellie Bergin, coming off a school-record 14 draws in a midweek victory over Binghamton, grabbed 10 of the team's 22 wins. Ellie Horner made 11 saves and surrendered 10 goals in picking up the win, with Mackenzie Clark making one stop off the bench.

Columbia's Maddie Brogan had four goals and an assist, while Anna Becker tallied three goals and added an assist. Dani Falcone won seven draws and assisted on a goal. Simone Koryszewski (seven saves) and Ava Kimche (three saves) combined for 10 stops.

Tied 3-3 after one, the Big Red scored the first five goals of the second quarter, and after the Lions answered back with one, plated three more in a row to go into the break with an 11-4 lead. Cornell was never seriously threatened in the second half despite the teams combining for 17 goals in the final 30 minutes.
