ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Cornell sailing team completed a busy weekend with a runner-up finish at the Georgetown Women's Team Race and a ninth-place effort at Kings Point in the Open Team Race this past weekend. The racing served as the final tuneup for this weekend's MAISA Spring Women's Championship.

The Big Red finished one race behind the host Hoyas after going 11-3 overall. The Big Red split races with Georgetown, Navy and Dartmouth, sweeping the other four teams in attendance. Cornell dropped its final race of the weekend to the Big Green to fall out of a first-place tie with Georgetown. Skippers Gilda Dondona, Ava Gustafson and Bridget Green worked well in tandem with crews made up of Hope Campbell, Sophia Mulvania, Ava Stevens and Kate Moran.

Cornell was 3-9 in a competitive Kings Point Open Race, picking up a pair of wins over U.S. Merchant Marine Academy and handing event champion St. Mary's (Md.) its lone loss of the weekend (16-1). Skippers Winborne Majette, Marcus Greco and Amelia Neumann sailed with crew Sophia Fogarty, Sophia Pearce, Wynne Williams and Theodore Taylor.

The Big Red will head to Providence, R.I. to sail at the Dellenbaugh Women's Team Race in addition to its trip to Annapolis for the MAISA Spring Women's on March 29-30.
