ITHACA, N.Y. - The Cornell women's rowing team opened its spring season at home for Cayuga Duals on Saturday. Racing on Cayuga Inlet the Big Red took the water against Boston University, George Washington, and Colgate in a two-session regatta.

"We closed the gap significantly with Boston University relative to last year and it was nice to see where we stacked up against Colgate and George Washington. We see all of these teams again at the Women's Sprints Regatta at the end of the regular season, so it was a good early measure of what we can do and what we need to do when we see them again.", Steve Coppola, the Staley Head Coach of Women's Rowing stated.

In the morning session, Cornell's Varsity Eight battled Boston in a tightly contested race, ultimately finishing second with a time of 6:44.9 to the Terriers' 6:41.7. The Second Varsity Eight also came in behind Boston, posting a 7:15.17 to the Terriers' 7:01.58. In the Varsity Four, Cornell recorded a time of 8:18.3 while Boston crossed in 7:57.3. One of the morning highlights came in the Third Varsity Eight, where Cornell secured a commanding win over George Washington with a time of 7:29.42 to the Rowing Colonials' 8:07.57. The Big Red's Second Varsity Four wrapped up the session with a time of 8:00.31, trailing Boston's 7:47.75.
