ITHACA, N.Y. -- With nationals quickly approaching, the Cornell sailing team will send squads to nearby Seneca Lake for the MAISA Women's Team Racing Championship and to Chesapeake Bay at Navy for the Truxtun Umstead Regatta. The two-day events will begin on Saturday, April 12 and conclude on Sunday, April 13.
The Big Red will be looking for its third straight conference title in women's team racing, topping Penn in a sail-off last spring. Cornell will be among eight teams setting sail at the women's team racing championship and will compete alongside Fordham, George Washington, Georgetown, Navy, Old Dominion, Penn and the host school Hobart and William Smith. The Big Red will begin competition with a head-to-head with George Washington to kick off flight two of round one.
At Truxtun Umstead, Cornell will compete against Boston University, Christopher Newport, Fordham, George Washington, Hampton, Hobart and William Smith, Jacksonville, Miami (FL), Navy, NC State, Northeastern, Old Dominion, St. Mary's (MD), Tulane, Vermont and Webb Institute.
