PRINCETON, N.J. -- The Princeton women's tennis team rallied from an early 2-0 deficit to claim a 4-3 victory over Cornell on Friday afternoon at the Lenz Center. Cornell dropped its third straight to fall to 10-7 (0-4 Ivy), while the Tigers improved to 8-10 (1-3 Ivy).
Jenny Wong and
Victoria Zhao got the Big Red off to a good start in doubles with a 6-1 win at No. 2, and a tiebreaker at No. 3 gave the Big Red the doubles point behind
Alexandra Savu and
Emma Baker. Wong bounced back with a straight sets victory at No. 4 singles to make it 2-0, but Princeton ripped off the next three wins and claimed victory with a three-set thriller that went the way of Alice Ferlito at No. 1.
Sage Loudon rallied after losing the first set to earn a 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 triumph at No. 2 singles for the only other win for the visitors.
Cornell begins a three-game home stand to close out the regular season when Penn visits the Reis Tennis Center on Sunday, April 13 at 1 p.m.
