PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Sophomore
Michelle Ryndin earned wins in singles and doubles, but Brown held off Cornell women's tennis 4-2 on Sunday afternoon at the Pizzitola Sports Center. Cornell fell to 10-6 (0-3 Ivy) with its second consecutive loss, while the Bears upped its record to 10-8 (1-2 Ivy).
Ryndin captured victories at No. 1 singles and doubles, getting the Big Red off to a quick 2-0 start. Teaming with
Sage Loudon in doubles, the tandem scored a 6-4 victory over the Bears' top team of Lindsey Hofflander and Addison Ahlstrom.
Emma Baker and
Alexandra Savu clinched the doubles point with a 6-3 victory at No. 3 to move the competition to singles play.
Ryndin put in good work in a 6-2, 6-0 straight-sets triumph over Hannah Shen, but the Bears answered with four consecutive singles wins, including a three-set win by Ali Maguy of Brown over Loudon at No. 3 that clinched the match.
Cornell will remain on the road to face Princeton on Friday, April 11 before beginning its three-match Ivy home stand beginning against Penn on Sunday, April 13 at the Reis Tennis Center.
