PENNSAUKEN, N.J. - The Cornell women's rowing team gets set to compete this weekend at the 2025 Ivy League Championships. Heats are scheduled to begin on Saturday, May 17 at 4:00 p.m. and continue through the day, while finals are slated to start on Sunday, May 18 at 8:00 a.m. on Cooper River.

Steve Coppola, the Staley Head Coach of Women's Rowing, spoke to the competitiveness of the Ivy League and how strong the competition is. "The Ivy League continues to show that it is one of the premier conferences in women's rowing and there competition is fierce.", Coppola mentioned.

The women's rowing team is looking to build off the energy that it gathered during Sprints to push itself toward success at the highly-competitive Ivy Championships. During the Sprints, Cornell's ninth-place (of 20) finish was its best finish during the modern iteration of the IRA Championships.

"The group was really energized from Sprints.  It gives us a sense of where we are among a larger field.  We were excited to be in the mix in that 6 boat racing and be in those close races you don't get from the Duals.  In the Varsity 8 final, the battle we were in with Northeastern and GW definitely pushed us to be closer on the time comparisons to Dartmouth and Columbia than we were expecting. We want to take that lesson of what our speed can be into the Ivy Championship and bring it when we don't have those close peers next  to us to push us.", Steve Coppola added.
