PENNSAUKEN TOWNSHIP, N.J. — The No. 14-ranked Cornell men's heavyweight rowing team cruised past No. 19-ranked Holy Cross on Friday afternoon, sweeping all four races held on the Cooper River in suburban Philadelphia.
All four races featured a variable cross tailwind across the 2000-meter course, including a slight chop over the second 1000 meters.
Opening the quartet of races, Cornell's 3V8+ registered a 14-second victory after posting a time of 5:45.6, the second-fastest clip posted by the Big Red on the day.
Following an 8.6-second victory by the 2V8+, Cornell's 1V8+ edged Holy Cross by 4.9 seconds with the fastest piece of the day, 5:41.6.
Rounding out Friday's slate, Cornell's 4V8+ had the closest margin of victory on the day, crossing the finish line 4.7 seconds ahead of Holy Cross. Cornell's 5V8+ also competed, posting a time of 6:21.2.

A LOOK UPSTREAM
Cornell will return to Cooper River Park tomorrow where it will face No. 8-ranked Penn for the annual Madeira Cup race before squaring off against No. 21-ranked Oregon State in the afternoon.
Racing against Penn will begin at 10:30 a.m. with the 4V8+, which will also feature Cornell's 5V8+ crew. The 3V8+ crew will launch at 11 a.m. before the 2V8+ and 1V8+ will follow in 20-minute intervals. After an hour break, Cornell will return to the water, where it will battle Oregon State. Three races will take place, beginning with the 3V8+ at 1:20 p.m., before the 2V8+ and 1V8+ follow at 1:40 p.m. and 2 p.m., respectively.
