BUFFALO, N.Y. — Cornell women's volleyball opened the Buffalo Classic with a win Friday afternoon, taking down Niagara University in four sets (25-10, 25-17, 22-25, 25-15).
Junior outside hitter Mackenzie Parsons led the Big Red offense with 14 kills on a .522 hitting percentage, while senior standout Eliza Konvicka added 11 kills. Setter Doga Ozalp steered the attack with 15 assists, with Mary Wolcott and Mikayla Gray chipping in nine each.
Gray delivered a dominant serving performance, firing five aces, while Wolcott added four of her own. At the net, middle blocker Ava Bogan posted 2.5 blocks, and Parsons contributed two. On the defensive end, libero Haley Clark anchored the back row with 10 digs.
Cornell was sharp across the board, committing just two receiving errors compared to Niagara's 18.
The Big Red improve to 1-0 to start the tournament. They continue play tomorrow, Saturday, September 13 at 4 p.m. against Northwestern before closing the weekend on Sunday.
