Cornell Opens Season with Strong Second-Place Showing

ITHACA, N.Y. – Cornell gymnastics finished second in its season opener Sunday, posting a 192.775 at Newman Arena in a tri-meet won by Penn with a 194.850. Bridgeport finished third with a 188.700.

The Big Red posted consistent scores across all four events, led by floor exercise (48.325) and vault (48.500).

VAULT 
Cami Whitaker paced Cornell on vault with a 9.825, tying for second overall in the event. Michaela DeFrancisco added a 9.725, while Addy Rothstein, Noelle Wojcik and Dahlia Jhaveri each contributed 9.575 or better.

UNEVEN BARS 
The Big Red matched its vault total on bars with a 48.500. Dahlia Jhaveri led the way with a 9.750, followed by Natalia Tehrani (9.725), Ava Schenck-Davis (9.725) and Morgen Shambo (9.725). Addy Rothstein added a 9.575.

BALANCE BEAM 
Natalia Tehrani posted Cornell's top beam score with a 9.700. Nora Sherman and Grace McLean each tallied 9.650 and 9.600, respectively, while Ella Fox contributed a 9.450.

FLOOR EXERCISE 
Sarah Goetter tied for first on floor with a 9.775, sharing the event title with Penn's Mimi Fletcher and Ava Hooten. Addy Rothstein and Josie Moylan each scored 9.725 and 9.700, respectively. Michaela DeFrancisco (9.500), Ella Fox (9.500) and Cami Whitaker (9.625) rounded out the Big Red's scoring.

Penn's Jordan Barrow claimed the all-around title with a 9.850, while Bridgeport's Abigail Kenney finished second at 38.700.

UP NEXT 
The 2026 season continues Sunday, Jan. 18 when the Big Red travel to Washington, D.C., to take on George Washington, Penn, and West Chester. The quad-meet is slated for a 1 p.m. start.
