Women's Tennis Sweeps Past St. Bonaventure In Home Opener

ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Cornell women's tennis team evened its spring dual meet record with 7–0 victory over St. Bonaventure on Saturday afternoon in its home opener at Reis Tennis Center. The Big Red improved to 1–1, while the Bonnies fell to 0–5.

Cornell seized momentum early by clinching the doubles point with wins at the second and third positions. Sage Loudon and Michelle Ryndin earned a 6–3 decision at No. 2 doubles, while Tanya Fan and Andrea Martinez De Los Rios followed with a 6–1 victory at No. 3. The top doubles match was left unfinished after the Big Red had taken a 5–3 lead.

In singles play, Cornell rolled through the lineup, winning all six matches. Ryndin delivered a straight-set win at No. 2, while Victoria Zhao, Martinez De Los Rios, Martina Marica and Fan each posted decisive victories in two sets. At No. 1, Loudon closed out the sweep with a hard-fought three-set triumph, rallying after dropping the opening set to secure the final point.

Cornell returns to action when it faces Niagara on Sunday, Feb. 1 at 1 p.m. at Reis Tennis Center.
