NEW HAVEN, Conn. — Freshman
Chloe Fouhety won both of her matches Saturday to reach the singles quarterfinals, and two Cornell doubles teams advanced to the round of 16 on the third day of the ITA Division I Women's New England Regional Championship at Yale.
Fouhety, who entered the main draw as one of 16 qualifiers, has won all five of her singles matches at the event. She opened Saturday by beating ninth-seeded Orly Ogilvy of Yale, 6-4, 6-1, in the round of 32, then defeated fellow qualifier Isabella Hu of Brown, 7-5, 6-1, in the round of 16. The Fort Lauderdale, Fla., native is one of two qualifiers still in the draw, along with Boston College's Jacqueline Soloveychik.

Michelle Ryndin topped Bryant's Maria Jose Hernandez Diaz and Ceylin Konuralp, 8-3.
Cornell's other three singles players lost in the round of 32. Ryndin, coming off Friday's upset of the top seed, fell to UConn's Chloe Lomans, 7-6 (6), 7-5. Zhao lost to the ninth-seeded Ha, 6-2, 6-2, and Loudon lost to Syracuse's Monika Wojcik, 6-1, 6-0.
Fouhety will face Wojcik in the quarterfinals at 10 a.m. Sunday. Wojcik beat ninth-seeded Gabriella Mikaul, 4-6, 7-6 (8), 7-5, in the round of 16.
Loudon and Ryndin open Sunday's doubles round of 16 against Army's Olivia Mellynchuk and Emily Ruckno at 11:30 a.m. Fouhety and Zhao follow at 12:30 p.m. against sixth-seeded Sam Grosjean and Alexandra Orlins of Dartmouth.
