ITHACA, N.Y. - Cornell women's basketball fell to No. 24 Princeton on Saturday, Feb. 14, by the final score of 59-38 after the Tigers outscored the Big Red 44-15 in the second half.
A trio of Tigers recorded double figures, led by 15 points and seven rebounds from Madison St. Rose. Sky Belker and Fatima Tall added 12 and 11, respectively. Princeton (20-3, 8-2 Ivy) finished the game shooting 37.0 percent from the field, including 55.5 percent in the second half. The Tigers outrebounded Cornell 36-28, including 14 offensive rebounds that led to 11 second-chance points for the visitors.
Cornell's
Clarke Jackson and
Paige Engels led the team with eight points apiece.
Emily Pape recorded a team-high six rebounds while scoring four points. As a team, Cornell (8-15, 3-6 Ivy) shot 31.0 percent from the field, 23.5 percent from three, and 66.7 percent at the line.
Both teams got off to a slow start in Newman Arena, shooting under 30.0 percent in the opening quarter as Princeton took a narrow 10-9 lead into the second.
Princeton's offensive struggles continued in the second quarter as Cornell held the Tigers to 7.7 percent in the frame and outscored the No. 24 team in the country 14-5, taking a 23-15 lead into the break.
The Tigers took control in the third quarter, going on an 11-3 run in the first five minutes to tie the game at 26-26. From there, Princeton used the final five minutes of the quarter to build a 38-28 lead over the Big Red, going 4-for-5 from the field, including 3-for-3 from three, while Cornell went 1-for-4 during the stretch with Jackson scoring the lone basket for the Big Red.
The fourth was more of the same as a 13-3 run by the Tigers to start the quarter made it a 20-point game, 51-31. Cornell scored four of its final seven points from the charity stripe as Princeton left Ithaca with a 59-38 win.

• Princeton has a 70-21 lead in the all-time series with Cornell after winning its 17th-straight game over the Big Red on Saturday.
• Cornell led Princeton at the break for the first time since Feb. 25, 2017.
• The Big Red's five-point third quarter was the fewest points it scored in a quarter against Princeton since it tallied five in the first quarter on Feb. 4, 2022 in a 75-37 loss to the Tigers.
