PRINCETON, N.J. - The Cornell men's swimming and diving team continued competition on Friday at the 2026 Ivy League Championships and sits fifth in the team standings with 581 points. Princeton leads the field with 952 points, followed by Yale (874.5), Harvard (785.5) and Brown (586).
Clay Baumann led Cornell in the 1000-yard freestyle with a 13th-place finish in 9:09.34 to score 14 points.
Duke Garvin placed 15th in 9:11.61 (12 points) and
Owen Dankert added nine points with a 17th-place finish in 9:11.91.
Daniel Simoes scored for the Big Red in the 100-yard butterfly, finishing 16th in 47.54 to earn 11 points. In the 400-yard IM,
Julian Correa delivered an A-final performance, placing seventh in 3:47.62 to score 23 points.
Jacques Grove highlighted Cornell's effort in the 200-yard freestyle with a fifth-place finish in 1:35.25 to score 25 points, while
Will Chen added five points with a 20th-place finish in 1:37.48. Cornell posted a strong showing in the 100-yard breaststroke.
Haihan Xu led the way with a fourth-place finish in 52.29 to score 26 points, while
Phillip Osadsky placed 12th in 53.72 (15 points) and
Emmanuel Gadson finished 19th in 55.56 (6 points).
The Big Red had an outstanding night in the 100-yard backstroke, led by Ivy League champion
Blake Conway, who won the event in 45.77 to score 32 points.
Pietro Ubertalli placed fourth in 46.16 (26 points),
Josh Toothman finished ninth in 47.06 (20 points),
Gabe Anagnoson placed 11th in 47.31 (16 points),
Zeno Ubertalli finished 19th in 48.62 (6 points) and
Soren Koschmann added four points with a 21st-place finish in 48.86.
Cornell closed the evening with a fifth-place finish in the 400-yard medley relay as Conway, Xu, Simoes and Grove combined for a time of 3:08.69 to score 50 points. "
