#11 Big Red Takes Game One Over #13 Raiders In Overtime Thriller

ITHACA, N.Y. - The no. 11-ranked Cornell women's ice hockey team defeated the no. 13-ranked Colgate Raiders 3-2 in overtime in game one of the ECAC Hockey quarterfinals on Friday afternoon at Lynah Rink. The Big Red improves to 19-10-2 on the season, while the Raiders dropped to 19-15-1.

With the victory, Cornell takes a 1-0 lead over Colgate in the ECAC Hockey quarterfinal series. The Big Red takes it's second straight postseason victory over the Raiders.

Georgia Schiff, Delaney Fleming, and Avi Adam scored goals for the Big Red. Fleming, Piper Grober, Abby Thibodeau, and Sarah MacEachern were credited with assists. Annelies Bergmann made 25 saves, including eight in the overtime period to aid in the victory.

Alexis Petford scored both goals for the Raiders. Elyssa Biederman (two), Casey Borgiel, and Emma Pais dealt assists for Colgate. Brooke Davis made 36 saves between the pipes in the setback.

Schiff put in a rebound off of Grober's shot to get the scoring started for Cornell at the 11:09-mark of the opening period. Fleming extended the lead to 2-0 just under six minutes into the second frame. Moments later the Big Red found the back of the net seconds into a power-play, but the marker was called back after a successful Colgate challenge.

Alexis Petford put the Raiders on her back, scoring a pair of goals in the third to tie the game. The first came two minutes into the frame on a power-play to bring the score to 2-1. The second came with 2:03 remaining on the extra-attacker advantage to tie the game.

Adam called game when she scored at the 10:18-mark of overtime to give Cornell the ECAC Hockey quarterfinal game one victory and move the series to 1-0 in favor of Cornell.

The no. 11-ranked Cornell women's ice hockey team will return to the ice for game two of the ECAC Hockey quarterfinals against no. 13 Colgate. Puck drop between the Big Red and the Raiders is slated for 3:00 p.m. at Lynah Rink. Game action will be broadcast on ESPN+.
