Big Red Finishes Fifth At Ivies With 841 Points

PRINCETON, N.J. - The Cornell men's swimming and diving team completed the 2026 Ivy League Championships and finished fifth in the team standings with 841 points. Princeton captured the team title with 1,474 points, followed by Yale (1,274.5), Harvard (1,173.5) and Columbia (901.5).

Julian Correa led the Big Red in the 1650-yard freestyle, placing 11th in 15:15.09. Pietro Ubertalliy earned a podium finish in the 200-yard backstroke, clinching third in a time of 1:40.59. Blake Conway placed eighth in the 200-yard backstroke (1:44.82). Haihan Xu touched the wall in 1:55.58, placing sixth in the 200-yard breastroke. Emmanuel Gadson was a few spots behind him, finishing in 11th-place (1:57.49).

Jacques Grove finished just outside the top three, racing to a time of 1:43.96 which was good for fourth-place in the 200-yard butterfly. On the boards, Max Reis-Trovillion scored 274.10 in the finals to finish 15th. A relay squad of Ubertalli, Grove, Josh Toothman, and Daniel Simoes took fifth (2:53.69) in the 400-yard freestyle relay to close out the 2026 Ivy League Championships.

"It was a very strong final day for us. The team fought hard through the end and came up on top of the tight battle against Brown. As a team, we had countless personal bests, and all those improvements helped us maintain our position from last year in the league", Wes Newman, the The Philip H. Bartels '71 Head Coach of Men's Swimming mentioned.  "We're thrilled to have Blake as a first time league champ and look forward to preparing for Nationals a month from now", Newman concluded with.
