NEW YORK, N.Y. — Cornell men's indoor track and field opened competition Saturday at the Ivy League Indoor Track & Field Heptagonal Championships hosted by Columbia at The Nike Track & Field Center at The Armory, highlighted by a title-winning performance in the weight throw and seven qualifiers advancing to Sunday's finals.

Peter Northrup led the way for the Big Red, winning the weight throw with a personal-best mark of 20.71 meters. The victory lands him third all-time at Cornell.
