Women's Tennis Earns Win At Buffalo, 5-2

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The Cornell women's tennis team snapped Buffalo's four-match win streak with a decisive 5-2 victory on Saturday at the Miller Tennis Center. The Big Red improved to 4-5 on the season, while the Bulls fell to 13-2.

Cornell set the tone early by sweeping the doubles point. Michelle Ryndin and Sage Loudon earned a 6-1 win at the top position, while Victoria Zhao and Andrea Martinez de los Rios secured the point with a 6-4 decision at No. 2. The third doubles match was left unfinished after Cornell had taken a 4-0 lead.

In singles, the Big Red closed out the match with straight-set wins at Nos. 1, 2 and 4. Ryndin rolled to a 6-2, 6-2 victory at the top spot, and Loudon followed with a 6-1, 7-5 win at No. 2. Zhao sealed the team result at No. 4 with a 6-2, 6-0 triumph. UB got on the board with a win at No. 3 singles, where Dylan Gelber dropped a hard-fought 6-2, 7-5 decision. Victoria Zhao made it 5-1 with a 6-2, 7-6 triumph at No. 4 singles, while Buffalo closed out the match strong with a win at No. 6 for the final margin.

Cornell will will welcome Fairleigh Dickinson to Reis Tennis Center on Sunday, March 1 at 11:30 a.m.
