ITHACA, N.Y. - The no. 12-ranked Cornell women's ice hockey team defeated the RPI Enginers 3-0 on Friday evening at Lynah Rink. The Big Red improved to 15-10-2, while the Engineers dropped to 6-25-0.
With the victory, Cornell clinches a top-eight spot in the ECAC Hockey playoff-seeding. The Big Red will either host an opening round single-game, or host a quarterfinal round best-of-three series if it clinches a top-four seed.

Avi Adam, and
Grace Dwyer scored goals for the Big Red.

The all-around effort came byway of nine different Big Red point-scorers. Three of those nine point-scorers were seniors. Among those seniors was Adam, who found the back of the net on one of her 11 shots-on-goal, and added five blocks to go along with her offensive production.
Cornell opened the game on it's front-foot, producing shots early and often, forcing RPI net-minder Reese Keating to settle in early. Pearson got the scoring started when McDavid found her wide open in the slot to give Cornell a 1-0 lead.
The Big Red had it's first power-play opportunity six minutes into the second frame. Adam extended Cornell's lead to 2-0 shortly after the power-play expired. Less than one minute later, Dwyer skated in on Keating and found the top corner to add insurance to the lead.
Both team's saw power-play chances in the third stanza, to no avail. Cornell stood tall on the defensive end for the remainder of the contest, finishing the game unscathed.
