NORWALK, Conn. — The eighth-ranked Cornell women's squash team dropped an 8-1 decision to No. 3 Stanford at MSquash SONO on Sunday afternoon in its final non-conference match of the season.
The Big Red (6-6) managed just one victory against the Cardinal (7-2), as junior
Xin Ying Yee rallied from a lopsided opening-game defeat to win in four games at the No. 1 position against Amelie Haworth. After falling 11-2 in the first, Yee dominated the second game 11-1 before edging out tight third and fourth games, 11-9 and 11-7.
Stanford, playing its third match in as many days, won the remaining eight matches to extend its winning streak over Cornell to four and improve to 14-12 all-time in the series. The Cardinal received strong performances from Zhi Xuan Goh, who cruised to a straight-game victory over senior
Aishwarya Khubchandani at No. 2, 11-3, 11-2, 11-7, and Mariana Narvaez Dardon, who defeated fellow senior
Alysa Ali 11-6, 11-9, 11-9 at No. 3.
Madison Ho and Tiana Parasrampuria, who entered the match tied for the team lead in wins, both posted four-game victories for Stanford. Ho defeated sophomore
Sabine Ball 12-10, 7-11, 11-8, 11-8 at No. 5, while Parasrampuria rallied from a first-game loss to defeat junior
Christa Kay 10-12, 11-2, 12-10, 11-3 at No. 6.
The closest match came at No. 9, where Khushi Kukadia edged freshman
Lamees Shalaby 11-9, 11-8, 14-12.
