Big Red Drops Hard-Fought Contest at Rutgers

PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- The Cornell women's tennis team dropped a 4-0 decision to Rutgers on Monday at the Livingston Tennis Center. The Big Red fell to 6-6 on the season, while the Scarlet Knights improved to 7-6.

Rutgers claimed the doubles point with wins at the first and third positions, earning 6–3 victories on both courts while the No. 2 match was left unfinished.

In singles play, Rutgers secured the team result with straight-set wins at Nos. 2 and 6 before clinching the match at No. 4. Sage Loudon and Emma Baker dropped decisions at the second and sixth spots, and Zeynep Ilker edged Dylan Gelber in three sets at No. 4 to seal the outcome.

Despite the final score, Cornell mounted a strong push late in the match. At the time play was halted, the Big Red held third-set leads on the remaining courts, with Michelle Ryndin, Victoria Zhao and Andrea Martinez De Los Rios each ahead in their deciding sets.

Cornell will attempt to get back to its winning ways when it visits New Haven on Sunday, March 22 at 1 p.m.
