Women's Polo Falls In National Semifinals to USC Aiken

OAK POINT, Texas -- USC Aiken outscored the Big Red 9-2 over the second and third chukkers and cruised to a 25-6 victory over the Cornell women on Thursday afternoon in the USPA Collegiate semifinals at Prestonwood Polo & Country Club. The Big Red has its season come to an end with an 11-4 record.

The Big Red scored the game's first two goals with Naomi Marlough and Lara Chong getting on the board first before Aiken tallied three straight to take the lead. Marlough scored her second of the night to even the score after the first chukker. Cornell was held scoreless in the second and trailed 12-5 at the break.

The second half belonged to the Mustangs, who outscored Cornell 13-1. Marlough, Chong and Samantha Iahn each scored a pair of goals in the loss.

"Obviously this is a disappointing loss to end the season, but to elevate our play this year to compete with the nation's best is a huge accomplishment for our young team, said Anthony Condo Jr., The Peter B. Orthwein `68 Head Coach of Polo. "We are excited for the future of Big Red women's polo."
