Cornell Women Place Third at Jen Harris Team Race To Headline Two Regatta Weekend

| By:

ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- The Cornell sailing team split its weekend between two high-level team racing regattas, highlighted by a third-place finish at the Jen Harris Women's Team Race at the U.S. Naval Academy and a ninth-place result at the St. Mary's Team Race Inter-Conference on the Chesapeake Bay.

At the Jen Harris event, the Big Red posted a 6-2 record to finish third in a 12-team field behind Stanford (8-0) and Brown (8-1). Cornell's lineup of Sophia Devling, Gilda Dondona, Winborne Majette, Ava Gustafson and Grace Penque with crews Sophia Mulvania, Paulina Freyre, Maya Conway and Ava Stevens delivered a consistent weekend, including wins over Old Dominion, Penn, Georgetown, South Florida, Hobart & William Smith and Rollins. The strong showing placed the Big Red among the event's top contenders in a regatta that featured several nationally-ranked programs.

The coed squad competed at the St. Mary's Team Race Inter-Conference, finishing ninth overall with a 1-8 record in a deep 10-team field led by Stanford (9-0) and Roger Williams (8-1). The Big Red lineup included Marcus Greco, Matthew Schmitt, Beylen Gode and Adrianna D'Agati with crews Laine Reshefsky, Maeve Katics, Emil Damji, Kathleen Keller and Kate Constan. Cornell gained valuable experience against some of the nation's top team racing programs as the spring season continues.

The Big Red returns to action when it returns to Maryland for another weekend at Navy's Graham Hall Team Race and St. Mary's Team Race League event beginning on Saturday, March 14.
