SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. — The 13th-ranked Cornell men's heavyweight rowing team split Saturday's dual meet with No. 12 Boston University on Fish Creek, with the 2V8+ leading the way for the Big Red in a tightly-contested afternoon on the water.
Racing took place under blustery conditions, with a cross/headwind throughout the card.
Cornell's 2V8+ posted the day's marquee result, edging Boston University by just over a second. The 1V8+ kept pace with the Terriers' top crew, ultimately finishing 5.3 seconds back.
In the 3V8+, the Terriers were disqualified after drifting out of their lane on two occasions, although no contact was made with Cornell. Times were mutually agree upon to be recorded despite Cornell picking up the victory via disqualification after finishing nearly two seconds behind Boston University.
Boston University's 4V8+ crossed the finish line ahead of Cornell by over seven seconds. The Terriers' 5V8+ also participated, finishing in third place.

A LOOK UPSTREAM
Cornell returns home next Saturday to host Syracuse and Navy for the Goes Trophy on Cayuga Inlet. Racing will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
Syracuse has won each of the last five Goes Trophy races, the longest win streak in the series since Navy took nine consecutive from 1979 to 1987. The Orange have also claimed the Stagg Trophy in each of the last six runnings, the longest such streak since a 13-year run by Navy (1979-91).
The Big Red last won the Goes Trophy in 2018 and has not claimed the Stagg Trophy since 2016.
