ITHACA, N.Y. — Cornell men's outdoor track and field split its squad between two meets Friday, turning in a series of strong performances at the Wake Forest Invite and the Navy Invite.
At the Wake Forest Invite, Cornell closed out the two-day meet with standout efforts across the track. Junior Ryder King led the way, placing second in the 110-meter hurdles in 14.41 seconds before returning to win the 400-meter hurdles in 51.33.
Edgar Thielens added a fourth-place finish in the 400 meters, crossing in 48.87, while Pierre Attiogbe delivered a breakthrough performance in the invitational 1,500 meters. The junior took sixth in 3:36.69, breaking Cornell's program record, marking a personal best for Attiogbe and moving to No. 6 on the Division I season standing list.
In the 5,000-meter invitational, Aryan Abbaraju placed 12th in 14:03.79, recording a new Division I season mark, while Tyler Canaday followed in 14th at 14:05.45.
Meanwhile, in Annapolis at the Navy Invite, Cornell opened competition in the decathlon, completing five events on day one. Kyle Velasco sits seventh with 3,238 points, while Gabe Ball is close behind in eighth with 3,145 points.
