Ivy League announces Ivy Madness will be played in Philadelphia in 2027.

Ivy Madness to Return to The Palestra in 2027 as Part of Centennial Celebration

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Ivy League announced today that the 2027 Ivy Madness men's and women's basketball tournaments will be held at The Palestra in Philadelphia, Pa., in conjunction with the historic venue's 100th anniversary celebration.

"We are excited to bring Ivy Madness back to Philadelphia as part of the 100-year anniversary of the historic Palestra," said Ivy League Executive Director Robin Harris. "Since its inception, Ivy Madness has provided a season-capstone experience for student-athletes, coaches, and fans, and it has thrived in each Ivy League community it has visited over the past eight years. We anticipate tremendous excitement for the 2027 tournaments in Philadelphia."

The 2027 event marks the first time Ivy Madness will return to The Palestra since the venue hosted the tournaments in 2017 and 2018. Following the 2018 event, the league implemented a rotation model, bringing the event to Ivy campus communities.

Originally scheduled to be held in Hanover, N.H., in 2027 - the final year of the current rotation - Dartmouth decided to forego serving as the 2027 host in order for the league to celebrate the 100th anniversary of The Palestra, which was then approved by the league's athletics directors.

"The competitiveness of this league is matched only by the collegiality shared among the league's institutions," Harris said.

"Dartmouth's willingness to forego hosting the 2027 tournaments in order for the league to celebrate this historic milestone, while also allowing time to evaluate the future structure of the event, is a testament to the collaborative spirit that defines the Ivy League."

Future Ivy Madness locations beyond 2027 will be announced at a later date following continued league discussions.
