ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Cornell women's volleyball dropped a 3-0 decision to Michigan on Saturday afternoon at Cliff Keen Arena, falling 25-16, 25-12, 25-14 in the first of two meetings between the teams this weekend..
Cornell hit .093 as a team and finished with 23 kills, four service aces, nine blocks and 30 digs. The Big Red moved to 4-4 on the season.

Jaida Sione led Cornell with eight kills while hitting .471.
Ava Bogan added five kills and a team-high seven total blocks, while Mackenzie Parsons contributed five kills, four digs and a block.
Mary Wolcott directed the offense with 12 assists, while Sarita Pomar recorded eight digs and a service ace.
Haley Clark added two digs and a service ace, while Kiran Rio contributed two kills, two blocks and two digs.
Set 1 – Michigan 25, Cornell 16
Cornell opened the match with an early 3-1 lead, getting kills from Parsons and Bogan before Michigan pulled even at 3-3.
The Big Red continued to battle, using kills from Sione and Bogan to take a 7-4 advantage. Michigan answered to close the gap, but Cornell remained within one at 10-9 following a Wolcott service ace.
The teams traded points through the middle portion of the set, with Cornell tying the score at 12-12 before Michigan moved in front, 15-13.
The Big Red continued to fight, with Sione and Parsons providing kills to keep the deficit manageable. Michigan, however, closed the set with a 10-3 run to take the opening frame, 25-16.
Set 2 – Michigan 25, Cornell 12
The second set began evenly, with Cornell pulling even at 5-5 following a service ace from Pomar.
Michigan moved ahead 7-5, but Cornell answered with a kill from Sione and remained within two points at 7-6.
Michigan created separation from there, building a 13-7 lead. Cornell responded with consecutive kills from Bogan, but the Big Red was unable to close the gap.
A late service ace from Gray helped Cornell reach 12 points, but Michigan closed the set, 25-12, to take a two-set lead.
Set 3 – Michigan 25, Cornell 14
Cornell came out aggressively in the third set, taking a 4-3 lead after a Clark service ace and a pair of early points from Sione.
Michigan answered with a four-point stretch to take a 7-4 lead, but Cornell continued to apply pressure. Kills from Sione and Charlotte Nowak helped the Big Red stay within two at 9-7.
Cornell remained within striking distance at 10-8 before Michigan extended its lead. The Big Red continued to compete, with Sione, Bogan and Parsons contributing kills during the final stretch.
Cornell cut the deficit to 21-13 on a Parsons kill and later reached 24-14 before Michigan closed out the set, 25-14, completing the 3-0 match.
The Big Red finished the match with 23 kills, four service aces, nine blocks and 30 digs.
