LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Senior Brian Kuritzky scored three goals, including two in the final 10 minutes, as the Cornell men's soccer team claimed the UK Nike Classic crown with a 4-1 victory over IUPUI on Sunday afternoon in Lexington, Ky. Dana Flanders also scored for the Big Red, which improved to 2-0 on the season, while IUPUI dropped to 0-2 on the young campaign.

The game was scoreless for the first 35 minutes, but Kuritzky's first tally of the season put the Big Red on the scoreboard first. The senior took a pass from Matt Bouraee just inside the Jaguar half and broke in on the goal, firing a low shot from 20 yards out that beat IUPUI goalkeeper Francisco Maia to the lower left corner of the goal.

Four minutes later, Flanders' first goal of the year - which would turn out to be the game-winner, came as the junior finished a cross from Browning into the same corner of the goal that Kuritzky used, putting the Big Red up by two at the half.

IUPUI cut the deficit in half 20 minutes into the second half, as Adrian Conrad headed home a free kick from Vangel Nacovski to the lower left corner of the goal past Cornell starter Luca Cerretani. The goal snapped a scoreless streak for Cerretani of 402:25 dating back to last season. The Cornell defense last allowed a goal on Oct. 24, 2006, against Hartwick.

The Big Red put the game away against the Jaguars as Kuritzky added a pair of insurance tallies in the final 10 minutes. Kuritzky finished his second goal of the season off a cross by Browning, one-timing a shot into the bottom right corner of the goal. Four minutes later, Kuritzky finished off the hat-trick as he buried a rebound of a shot by Scott Caldwell to make the final margin 4-1.

Cornell captured the tournament title following Kentucky's 3-0 victory over UNC-Ashville on Sunday afternoon. Kuritzky, Matt Bouraee, Aaron Vieira and Joe Yonga were all named to the all-tournament team for their performances over the weekend.

The Big Red returns to central New York next weekend for another tournament, heading to Hamilton for the Colgate Adidas Soccer Classic. Cornell will open the tournament against Albany on Friday at 5 p.m.
