HAMILTON, N.Y. -- Matt Bouraee scored his second goal of the season with 3:27 gone in the second overtime gave the Cornell men's soccer team a 3-2 victory over Albany in the opening game of the Colgate Adidas Soccer Classic on Friday night in Hamilton, N.Y. The win makes Cornell 3-0 on the young season, while Albany drops to 1-2 on the year.

With the game tied at two in the second overtime, Brian Kuritzky intercepted a pass from the Albany defense and hit Bouraee in stride as he raced in alone on Albany goalkeeper Steward Ceus. Bouraee stroked his shot past Ceus to the right side of the goal to put the Big Red in the win column.

Cornell had a pair of leads in the contest, taking a 1-0 margin just 15 minutes into the game. Brian Kuritzky scored his fourth goal of the season, again intercepting an errant pass by the Albany defense. Kuritzky's shot was deflected by Ceus, and was nearly cleared off the line by a Great Dane defender, but the ball had already crossed into the goal.

The Great Danes tied the score 20 minutes later as Shaun Kane put a shot past goalkeeper Luca Cerretani. The Big Red responded six minutes later as Brett Sumpio fired a rocket from 18 yards out past Ceus and into the back of the net. In between tallies, the Big Red dodged a bullet, as Albany was awarded a penalty kick, but the shot by Brian Gordon went wide of the goal.

Albany tied the game at two in the 54th minute as Kenneth Ibe fired a shot past Cerretani. The game would remain tied for the remainder of the half and through the duration of the first overtime, setting up Bouraee's heroics.

Cerretani made six saves in goal for the Big Red, while Ceus picked up nine stops in net for Albany.

Cornell will try for its second consecutive in-season tournament title on Sunday when it takes on Richmond to open the second day of action in the Colgate Adidas Soccer Classic. Game time is noon in Hamilton, N.Y.
