At the midway point of the first period, Vermont took two penalties giving the Cornell power play unit a five-on-three advantage. Junior

A little under three minutes into the second period, Johnston shot the puck past Vermont's Kristen Olychuck to put Cornell up, 2-0. Freshman
Catherine White assisted on the goal and defenseman
Amanda Young notched her fourth helper of the weekend. White scored a goal of her own at 4:54, with Johnston earning the assist.
White netted her second goal of the game at 14:00 of the second period to give Cornell a 4-0 lead at the end of two.
Stephanie Holmes and Johnston made the assists.
Vermont was on the power-play in the third period as Holmes scored the Big Red's first short-handed goal of the season at 15:07 of the third. Johnston added her third assist of the game.
The Catamounts were still on the power play a minute later when Erin Barley-Maloney scored Vermont's only goal of the game at 16:07.
Olychuck took the loss for Vermont making 22 saves. Cornell outshot the Catamounts 27-18.
The Big Red will return home next weekend to play host to Robert Morris on Saturday afternoon for a 4 p.m. game.
