ALBANY, N.Y. -- In a battle of two of the top mid-major teams, Siena used its superior depth and four starters in double figures to earn a 74-56 victory over Cornell on Saturday evening at the Times Union Center. The loss dropped the Big Red to 2-2, while the Saints improved to 2-0.

Siena's Kenny Hasbrouck tallied 22 points and added five rebounds and four assists, while Ryan Rossiter had 10 points, 15 rebounds and four steals in an active performance down low for the Saints. Alex Franklin tallied 15 points and Edwin Ubiles scored 12 points and grabbed seven boards in the victory. The Saints held a 45-36 edge on the glass and assisted on 21 of the team's 30 baskets.

Cornell got a 14-point, nine-rebound effort from Jeff Foote, while Geoff Reeves added 13 points and Ryan Wittman chipped in with 11 despite a tough 4-of-17 effort from the floor. Freshman Chris Wroblewski had five points, five rebounds and a career-high three steals vs. Siena. Cornel lshot just 35 percent overall and 29 percent from beyond the arc in an uncharacteristically poor shooting night. Even from the free-throw line, where Cornell shot 76 percent a season ago, the Big Red made just 7-of-13 for 54 percent.

The first half saw both teams shoot poorly as the Saints took a 30-26 lead into the break. The teams traded the lead xx times in a half that also featured four ties. The Big Red took its last lead of the game on a Foote jumper with 1:29 to play in the half, but five straight points for the Saints down the stretch got the 7,575 fans in attendance on their feet.

The turning point of the ballgame came in the first four minutes of the second half, where Siena turned a four-point led into an 11-point bulge at 41-30. The lead grew to as many as 19 (60-41) with 8:18 left as the Big Red couldn't cut into the lead as it shot 34 percent from the field after halftime and turned the ball over nine times.

Cornell returns to action on Monday, Nov. 24 at 5:45 p.m. when it meets Loyola-Chicago at St. John's Carnasecca Arena as part of the NIT Preseaon Tip-Off consolation rounds.
