ITHACA, N.Y. -- Joe Devin scored two goals, including the game winner, as Cornell (3-0, 2-0 ECAC Hockey) rallied with four third period goals to overcome a 3-2 deficit and defeat Harvard (1-2, 1-2 ECAC Hockey), 6-3, in a men's ECAC Hockey game Saturday evening at Lynah Rink.

Mike Devin scored once and assisted on three others, while goaltender Ben Scrivens made 22 saves to pick up the win. Louis Leblanc, Conor Morrison and Alex Fallstrom each scored for the Crimson. Ryan Carroll took the loss and stopped 24 shots in his first start of the season. Cornell's power play converted on two of its three chances on the night, while Harvard was held scoreless in its five power-play opportunities.

Harvard opened up the scoring with LeBlanc's goal at the 14:30 mark of the game, getting a pass from Michael Biega in the neutral zone, skating into the Cornell zone and ripping a shot from between the faceoff circles that beat Scrivens between his legs. Harvard would take the 1-0 lead into the first intermission, as only an interference call on Cornell's Justin Krueger dotted the scoresheet for the period.

In the second, Cornell evened the score with Patrick Kennedy's second goal of the year at the 4:04 mark of the period. Joe Devin sent a pass from the end boards in front for Kennedy, who couldn't get his stick down in time, but the puck went out to the point to Mike Devin. Devin ripped a shot that Carroll kicked aside with his right leg, but the rebound came off to a wide-open Kennedy. This time, Kennedy got his stick on the puck and drilled it into the back of the net, tying the score at one.

Harvard wasted no time in responding, however, as Morrison sent the Crimson back on top just 1:14 later. Cornell attempted to dump the puck into the Harvard end, but it was intercepted by Ryan Grimshaw, who carried the puck into the Cornell zone. Grimshaw then saw a cutting Morrison in between the circles and hit him in stride with a pass, and Morrison ripped a shot past Scrivens. The Crimson would add to their lead later in the period, as Chris Huxley sent a pass to Doug Rogers cutting across the red line. Rogers carried the puck across the Cornell blue line and fired off a shot that Scrivens stopped, but left a rebound hanging in the faceoff circle to his left, where Fallstrom buried it to stake the Crimson to a 3-1 lead midway through the second period.

A hooking call on Harvard's Michael Del Mauro at the 16:08 mark of the second period gave Cornell its first power-play of the night, and the Big Red made the Crimson pay. Tyler Roeszler sent a puck from the half-wall back to Mike Devin at the point, and his shot found its way through a screen in front, beating Carroll and cutting the deficit to 3-2 at the end of the second period. The end of the period was not without incident, however, as Brendon Nash was tagged with a two-minute cross-checking penalty, forcing Cornell to open the third period on the penalty kill.

Cornell's penalty killers did their job to open the third period, holding the Crimson off the board and to just one shot on the power play. Just 27 seconds after the expiration of the Crimson power play, Cornell knotted the score at three on Devin's first goal of the night. Blake Gallagher sent a shot in from the faceoff circle to Carroll's right, and the rebound laid in the crease until it was jammed home by the stick of Devin as Cornell evened the game.

Devin then potted the game-winner just 3:32 later, after Cornell killed off its fourth penalty of the night. Mike Devin pinched in to keep the puck in the Harvard end, working the puck to Colin Greening in the faceoff circle to Carroll's left. Greening spotted a wide-open Joe Devin circling around from behind the goal and hit the junior with a pass in front of the crease. Devin's back-handed shot slipped through the legs of Carroll, giving Cornell its first and last lead of the night.

From there, the Big Red kept the pressure on, striking twice more in the next 10 minutes. First, on just its second power play of the night, Riley Nash sent a pass to Sean Whitney at the center point. Whitney took a few strides to his right and sent a pass to the weak side where Gallagher was camped out at the bottom of the faceoff circle. Gallagher's one-time shot from the sharp angle beat Carroll high as Cornell went up, 5-3.

With six and a half minutes to play, the Big Red tallied its sixth goal of the night and the first of Miller's career. Mike Devin collected a loose puck in the Harvard zone and skated behind the Crimson goal. He then sent a pass to Miller, standing just off the crease to the right of Carroll, and the freshman ripped a shot past the goaltender.

Following a boarding call on Cornell's Sean Collins with 5:45 to play, Harvard coach Ted Donato pulled Carroll to set up a 6-on-4. Cornell coach Mike Schafer responded by calling a timeout to ensure his penalty killers were all on the same page, and the quartet successfully killed off the penalty until an interference call on Harvard's Daniel Moriarty ended the Harvard power play with 25 seconds remaining. Carroll returned to the net from there, but the game was already in hand for Cornell.

Cornell returns to action on Friday when it takes to the road for the first time in 2009-10, traveling to New Haven, Conn., for a 7 p.m. contest at Yale. Cornell will then take on Brown on Saturday in Providence, R.I., the following night.
