ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Cornell women's polo team completed its fall semester with a perfect 10-0 record after knocking off Skidmore 16-10 on Saturday afternoon at Oxley Equestrian Center. Cornell closed out the fall semester ranked No. 1 in the country.
The Big Red did it without one starter playing, as Cornell's bench showed their depth.
Ali Hoffman started with
Kate Harkness and
Claire Glashan and staked the Big Red to an 8-0 lead after one. Hoffman played the second with Kayliegh Sulivan and
Alice Rowland as Cornell went to the half with a 12-2 lead. Hoffman left with four goals, tying Glashan for top honors on the squad.
Amanda Stern saw time in the third and picked up a goal, as did Sullivan and Britney Cox. Rowland tacked on two and Harkness rounded things out with three of her own. Skidmore's starters faired better in the third and fourth, winning both chukkers 4-2, but overall the Big Red was too much and the Thoroughbreds could not overcome the first half.
