Women's Tennis Picks Up Second-Straight Ivy Win with 4-3 Victory over Dartmouth

ITHACA, N.Y.—The Big Red women's tennis team won its second-straight Ivy match on Friday afternoon defeating Dartmouth, 4-3, at the Reis Tennis Center. Cornell won the doubles point and with three singles victories came through for the win. The Big Red improves to 6-9 overall and 2-0 in the Ivy League.

In doubles play, Shayna Miller and Stephanie Kent teamed up to win 9-7 at the No. 2 spot, while Elizabeth Googe and Ruxandra Dumitrescu's 9-8 (5)victory at No. 3 secured the point for Cornell. The two hard-fought wins would prove to be the deciding point in the team match.

In singles, Kent defeated Mary Beth Winningham, 6-2, 7-5 at the No. 2 position. At No. 5, Miller picked up a 6-7 (4), 7-6 (1), 6-2 victory. Dumitrescu won at the No. 6 spot over Ryan Reichel, 6-3, 4-6, 6-4.

The Big Red will play at Harvard on Saturday afternoon.
