ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Cornell University football team got its first, and only, opportunity to hit a team in a different uniform on Saturday afternoon when the varsity and junior varsity squared off against Hobart College at Schoellkopf Field. The Big Red varsity team saw action in the first half of play, while the junior varsity suited up for the final 30 minutes.
The first string played the first quarter and scored 10 unanswered points, with a 41-yard field goal by
Brad Greenway and a 1-yard scamper by
Randy Barbour provided the scoring in the first 15 minutes of play. Senior quarterback
Ben Ganter was exceptionall sharp, going 6-of-9 passing for 85 yards, with classmate
Stephen Liuzza hauling in a pair of passes for 37 yards. Sophomore defensive back
Rashad Campbell had an interception to set up the touchdown. Greenway later booted a 46-yarder, what would have been a career-long.
In the second half, Cornell scored twice on the defensive end with freshmen defensive backs
DeMarr Moulton and
Max Martinez each bringing an intercetpion back for six points.
The scrimmage was conducted like a regular game with four 15-minute quarters, with the exception of the quarterbacks wearing alternate jerseys to show they weren't live.
