THE MATCHUP – Cornell welcomes St. Bonaventure and Stony Brook this Saturday, March 13 to the Reis Tennis Center. The Big Red (7-4) will take on St. Bonaventure (2-3) at 9:00 a.m., and Stony Brook (5-3) at 3:00 p.m.
THE SERIES VS. ST. BOANVENTURE – Cornell and St. Bonaventure first met in 1990 where Cornell began its 12-match winning streak in the series.
SCOUTING THE BONNIES – The Bonnies have not seen as many matches so far this season this spring, playing five and earning victories over St. Francis and Bucknell. St. Bonaventure shut out the Terriers before winning the doubles points and all but the No. 6 singles spot against the Bison.
LAST TIME VS. ST. BONAVENTURE – Cornell and St. Bonaventure met last spring with the Big Red shutting out the Bonnies, 7-0.
THE SERIES VS. STONY BROOK – Cornell and Stony Brook have met two times, coming in back-to-back seasons (2006, 2007).The Big Red holds the 2-0 lead in the series
SCOUTING THE SEAWOLVES – The Seawolves are currently on a two-match winning streak. Their last win came against Ivy League foe Princeton, defeating the Tigers, 4-3. Princeton swept the doubles matches, but it wasn't enough, as the Seawolves earned victories in the No. 3, No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 singles matches.
LAST TIME VS. STONY BROOK – The last time Cornell and Stony Brook met was in 2007. Cornell seized the win in a 6-1 victory.
Jonathan Fife is the only current member of the Big Red to earn a victory in that match, getting the win at No. 3 singles.
LAST TIME OUT FOR CORNELL – After dropping a 6-1 decision to Columbia last weekend, the Big Red rebounded with a 6-1 victory over St. John's. Against the Red Storm, Cornell swept the doubles matches before winning all but the No. 6 singles spot.
UP NEXT – The Big red will travel out west for Spring Break. First, Cornell will take on Utah and New Mexico State in Salt Lake City, on Tuesday, March 23 at noon and Thursday, March 25 at 9:00 a.m., respectively. Then the Big Red will travel to Idaho for a match vs. the Vandals on Friday, March 26 at noon.
