CAMBRDIGE, Mass. -- Harvard jumped out to a 5-0 halftime lead and never looked back, knocking off Cornell 10-4 in women's lacrosse action on Saturday afternoon at Harvard Stadium. The Crimson improved to 3-3 (1-1 Ivy), while the Big Red fell to 2-4 (1-1 Ivy).
Jessi Steinberg scored three of Cornell's four goals on the day, while
Shannon McHugh had a goal and an assist in the loss. Steinberg added three draws, while
Tissy O'Connor won four.
Kyla Dambach made six saves, including five in the decisive first half to prevent further damage. The Big Red controleld the draw (11-5) and held even in shots (21-21), but three Crimson goals in the final eight minutes did in the visitors.
Harvard goalkeeper Katherine Martino made eight saves, including six after halftime to hold off the Big Red Red. Jen VanderMeulen had three goals and five other players registered multi-point days in picking up the win.
